Heh, this happens to me every now and then. hold down the windows key and hit the pause break key, should be above page up.
System properties should appear, go to teh hwardware tab, and hit device manager.
scroll down untill you see the speaker icon. if the tree is colapsed, there should be a little + next to the icon, if so, click the + directly to the left of it. now look for something that has your soudcard. most computers have an item in here that says AC'97 and some other stuff around it. if you see the AC'97 thing in only 1 icon, right click it and hit properties. give it a while to load the page. now at the bottom of the window that poped up it should say Device Usage and below it, Use this device (enable).
click on it, and it should slide down with another option that says Do not use this device (disable). click it, and hit OK.
now do the opposite, rightclick or double clock the AC97 thingy and at the bottom, select Use this device (enable). hit OK, and try to play something, it should have worked out. on my computer, it does this sometimes and it just needs a little jumpstartCan anybody help me get the volume control back on the tools at the bottom of the screen,Ive got no sound.TA.?
think you need to go to my comp, sounds icon, and go through and make sure all switched on - I've done that before and its worked
pandora has the easy answer .
thumbs up to pandora
Try doing a system restore, it may help. From http://fixit.in
The easiest way is to go to start, control panel and then into sounds and audio devices.
make sure that under the volume heading. the box is ticked for 'place volume icon on the taskbar'
Unless you have a hardware problem this should work.
Click this icon and check if the mute checkbox was selected. If so, unselect it
